Whats it all about?
_Back in 2002 Abel & Cole set up the Farmer's Choice scheme as a solely not-for-profit fund-raising venture
to raise much needed cash for London's schools. We know how hard it is
for schools to raise money and we also know how hard it can be to juggle
weekly food shopping with energetic kids so we came up with a solution
for two problems in one go!
Since humble beginnings in local London schools, the scheme has grown, gradually spreading across nearby counties supporting hundreds of schools. Last year alone saw us raise £90,000 with some schools making £3,000 each to spend exactly as they need and all thanks to good old fruit and veg!
It's extremely simple! The idea is very simple and surprisingly low maintenance: each week, the school is supplied with bags of freshly harvested organic fruit and vegetables. Parents and teachers sign up for a bag; when they collect it, they pay for the next week so there is no hassle or wastage.
The bags are excellent value and prices start at an accessible £6.50. The school receives 25% of the price of every bag sold, the organic farmers are getting the scheme's support and everyone gets to stock up on delicious fruit and veg - it couldn't be better!
